Open Question: Community college student planning to transfer to a 4 year college and do 2 years of NROTC?I've been a bit confused when it comes to NROTC. I've done research, however a lot of it really seems geared towards High School Seniors. I recently just graduated High School, and am about to finish my 1st semester of community college. After my 2 years of community, I plan on transferring to a 4 year institution (San Diego State University). Now, the thing that is unclear for me is the whole scholarship process. I've been in contact with a Navy recruiter, and they advised that I just apply to a 4 year college as a freshman and apply for the NROTC scholarship instead of completing my 2 years at community. My high school grades aren't the best, I graduated with a 2.78 GPA, ranked 771 in my class of 1076. I have a few D's on my transcript. My ACT scores meet the eligibilit requirement for the NROTC scholarship. I've done a lot of reading online and on yahoo answers, and I do understand that I will be competing with students who have a 3.5 and beyond. I'm a bit lost. What types of things will the NROTC Scholarship reviewers be looking at when I transfer? Should I stick to community and join the NROTC program when I transfer, or should I just apply to schools as a Freshman? Gah, I'm confuzzled! >.< Also, the math requirement of calculus before the end of sophomore year, does that apply to me in community college? Open Question: Questions about becoming a US Marine (Continued....3 more final questions.)?1. If you for some reason fail a portion of training (not because you do something stupid and get in trouble) do you start from the beginning again or just the beginning of that phase? 2. When is the Crucible during Recruit Training? 3. What is Recruit Training like at MCRD-SD (San Diego....A.K.A. Hollywood Marines)? I have not spoken with a recruiter yet because I am working on getting into shape still. Also I am not old enough yet (I'm 17 but my parents wouldn't sign for me to Enlist so I have until Im 18 so next September) and will probably go talk to a recruiter next year around September or October but may wait until January or February of 2011. Open Question: I'm wanting to move to Chandler AZ also.?I am originally from San Diego, moved to raise my family and now I'm wanting Hot weather and much needed vitamin D…lol I would like some info a good news paper to look for renting a home until we decide to buy? What are the hottest months? I have been told that Phoenix is the capitol of child kidnapping and gangs, what is you opinion on this and does that effect Chandler? Is the economy good? Why are there so many home reposed? I was told that in two years there will be an amusement park built some place in AZ placing many jobs, any info on this? Thank you very much for all you help Open Question: What if you are having trouble with your WIA worker?I am on unemployment and applying for a training through the WIA program in San Diego (through one of the career centers). The program I have chosen is on the ETPL list. The worker I am working with is difficult. I have heard him snap at other people in the office and he has been kind of a jerk to me - he has said some things to me I would consider a little bit degrading. Anyhow... I don't really care about that.... what I care about is that he is also a little bit lazy and unresponsive. I am trying to get an issue resolved with getting the approval complete for me training program and he hasn't been helpful at all. Can I just go to a different career center and work with someone else? or would this mean I would have to start the process all over again? Open Question: are the Twilight/Eclipse cast going to the 2010 San Diego Comic Con?Open Question: Question about crossing the border in San Diego.?I was once coming back by foot after a day trip to Tijuana. I was waiting in line, ( a long line) some white americans were just skipping the line. I am white and legal in the US, I was wondering if that was something you could or should do and if its normal. Certainly will save me some time next time, but then I have zero interest at the moment with all the crime. More Recent Articles
