Open Question: Best place to rent single-family home in cool neighborhood in San Diego?

My boyfriend and I are moving to San Diego in a few months, and we are looking for a single family home (not an apartment or "condo") near the beach in a cool, young, hip, happening neighborhood in San Diego. His office is in the UTC/La Jolla area, and I will be working from home so walkability/bikeability of the neighborhood is important to me. We can't do carpeting and want a recently renovated place. We were looking in PB, but all we could find were crappy 2 bedroom, 1000 sq ft carpeted apartments and "condos" - basically apartments. Any ideas on what other areas to look at that have nice residences but close enough to nightlife and dining?

Open Question: Help! I spilled olive oil on my Ugg boots. How do I clean them?

I was cooking in my brand new Ugg boots and spilled some olive oil on them. Does anyone know how to clean them or know of a place in San Diego that can clean it for cheap?
