Open Question: What are the exact rules for lunch breaks in CA?Basically, I work for a small retail store in San Diego. I won't give out the company name. But basically friday's I work 9 hour days. Now shouldn't I get a 30 minute break where I get to close the store? They tell us that because the store can be empty at times to take our breaks then. However I don't always want to take my break here. They pay for my lunch time, BUT I didn't sign any consent form for this. From What I have read They Can't do this. There is Always 2 employee's that work @ this location for a open 7 days a week store. I can't even really call into work sick because it's the other guys off days, and since there is only 2 of us; when one of us can't make a saturday shift thats a 10 1/2 hour work day. So shouldn't I get up to two 30-minute lunch breaks? Any Advice? I'm trying to find a new job...but as we all know thats tough. More Recent Articles
